InterGames ends: a project that will continue generating impact
After two years of work, international collaboration, and a strong commitment to educational innovation, the InterGames project officially comes to its close. It has been an intense and enriching journey in which teachers, students, and partner organizations have contributed to demonstrating the enormous potential of video games as a tool to foster interdisciplinary learning in Secondary Education.
Throughout the project, InterGames developed training resources, pilot activities, teaching sequences, and other actions of interest for education. These materials were integrated into a variety of subjects across the main learning areas, allowing students not only to achieve academic learning but also to strengthen their 21st-century skills. This approach enabled students to acquire specific competencies while enhancing their creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills.
A path built together
The international consortium—formed by non-profit organizations, the University of A Coruña, and specialized entities—worked in close collaboration to:
- Design a pedagogical model for interdisciplinary teaching based on video games.
- Create teaching materials and a training course for teachers.
- Carry out workshops with students from several countries.
- Analyze the educational impact of the activities through multiple metrics and evaluation instruments.
- Produce reports, recommendations, and good practices for future use.
Thanks to this joint effort, the project adapted to different contexts, integrated diverse methodologies, and ensured that the results were transferable, accessible, and sustainable.
Results that will endure
Among the final outcomes, the following stand out:
- A teacher’s manual composed of pedagogical sequences with practical guidance for introducing video games into the classroom from an interdisciplinary perspective.
- The online training course for teachers.
- The training experiences carried out in Secondary Education classrooms.
- The final evaluation report compiles the project’s impact.
- A curated selection of video games proves to be useful in this educational context.
All these resources will remain available after the end of InterGames, ensuring that any teacher or educational institution can continue applying the model; and adapting or improving it as needed.
A closure that is, in fact, a new beginning
Although InterGames has officially concluded, its legacy continues. The interdisciplinary model, the insights generated, and the network of collaborators will remain as a foundation for upcoming projects and educational initiatives.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to everyone who took part: teachers, students, school leadership teams, experts, researchers, and partner organizations. Without your involvement, creativity, and dedication, this project would not have been possible.
InterGames closes a chapter, but opens the door to new initiatives that continue exploring the educational potential of video games as a driver of innovation, motivation, and meaningful learning.
